What digital design tools do you use?

The tools of the modern artist aren’t the brush and canvas, but the keyboard and mouse. Our design team uses digital design tools for everything from website prototyping to crafting trade show booths.
Design tools we prefer
Figma
Figma is the industry leader for UI designing and prototyping, and it is our preferred option for starting new website and web app projects. We have also grown to like its interactive prototyping features. We are watching closely as Figma continues to add additional features.
Sketch
Sketch is a simpler version of Figma that runs exclusively on MacOS. It is one of our historical favorites because of the way it simplifies the project handoff process from the designer to developer; however, we typically choose to use Figma because of its vast offerings and industry dominance.
Adobe Creative Cloud
Like most creative agencies, we heavily utilize the Creative Cloud apps, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator, for non-UI design projects. However, like everyone else, we wish they weren't so expensive!
Adobe Stock
When our projects or prototypes call for stock imagery, we currently turn to Adobe Stock for their broad selection of stock photography.
Creatopy
Creatopy is our current choice for designing and animating HTML display ads.
Canva
Used by our design team, account managers, and ads analysts, Canva is phenomenal for quickly creating social posts, ad creative, and other marketing assets for clients and ourselves.
Design tools we avoid
Low-budget DIY web tools (like Wix and Squarespace)
We think these tools are great for entrepreneurs and small teams with the time and talent to build their own websites, but they don't allow for the level of intricacy and tech sophistication that we prefer to provide. If you are set on using one of these platforms, we recommend doing so yourself. They are designed to be beginner-friendly, and there are plenty of tutorials available online.
Like artists experimenting with new mediums, our designers are always testing new tools and tactics. As you can see, we have our favorites, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t be willing to try something new. If you have a project that requires a tool that isn’t on this list, get in touch, and our designers can meet with you to figure out if we will be the right partner for you.
