Digital marketing for small and middle-market businesses

Many agencies specialize in one particular industry. We don’t. Our “sweet spot” is small to middle-market businesses (think $10M-$100M) with big goals but small teams. We act as an extension of their marketing team, providing the perfect blend of strategy and execution across every digital marketing discipline.

How we help small and middle-market businesses

Creating a roadmap

Success is rarely accidental, and even when it is, it isn’t repeatable. We’ve found that the foundation of marketing momentum for small and middle-market businesses is a clear roadmap. We begin every marketing partnership with a planning phase to get a clear understanding of each client’s current situation, future goals, resources, and constraints. These roadmaps, while flexible, give clear direction to the work we do each month, and they give our clients a way to measure our success.

Month-to-month support

We aren’t in the business of doing a little work then sending you on your way to figure everything out on your own. As an extension of your team, we grow alongside you year after year. We make this happen using Managed Service Agreements (MSAs), which give you full access to our team on a monthly basis.

Dedicated account management

The key to these long-term, disciplined engagements is a good quarterback. At USDP, each client has a dedicated account manager who directs the strategy, serves as the single point of contact, and coordinates our team members to execute tasks.

Evolving execution

The focus of your marketing activities varies as you make progress on your business. We break our marketing efforts into three categories:

  • Set the course: These activities are appropriate when your marketing strategy and/or your brand’s foundational elements are ill-defined. This type of work typically involves marketing roadmapping, brand messaging, and brand design. For some clients, this is the starting point of our engagement; however, in other situations, we revisit these activities after first focusing on other phases.
  • Create the experience: Your “experience” is the main engine you use to acquire customers. In the digital context, this typically refers to a marketing or eCommerce website, or sometimes a custom web app. Businesses often find themselves needing to improve or rebuild their experience every five years or so to keep up with the evolving market.
  • Drive momentum: These are the activities that are focused on getting your brand more attention and your business more customers. This can cover everything from advertising and SEO/AIO to strategic content marketing activities like copywriting or email campaigns. These activities are usually only appropriate once the course is set and the experience is well-refined.
