How long will it take to build my website?

That is an essential question. The more complex your website is with functionality, the number of pages, and the planning and design time needed, the more time it will take to finish the project and go live (it will also impact the cost).

On our website pricing page (How much does building a website cost?), we outline three pricing ranges. Here is the rough timeline for each of those project sizes.

Straightforward Company Website: $15,000 – $30,000

A website project this size and shape would likely take 8-12 weeks (2-3 months) from start to launch.

A Medium-Size Website: $30,000 – $60,000

A website project this size and shape would likely take 12-16 weeks (3-4 months) from start to launch.

A Complex Digital Hub: $60,000 – $100,000+

A website project this size and shape would likely take 16-24 weeks (4-6 months) from start to launch.

Projects can certainly take less time because:

  • We need less discovery work in the first phase of the project
  • The design phase is ahead of schedule
  • There aren't any client delays with meetings and approvals
  • The implementation of the content management system, page build, and functionality takes less time than expected

By the same measure, projects can take more time than estimate because:

  • The scope of the project is expanded to accomplish more
  • Unforeseen client delays can happen

Hopefully this gives you a good idea of how much time to budget for an upcoming website redesign project.
