Team Member Spotlight: Scott Volpenhein

Meet our senior digital analyst. Scott can easily make sense out of the overwhelming data in your Google Analytics account and turn it into crazy successful ads. And he can probably rout you at a game of cornhole. Just don’t invite him to lunch at Panera.
What’s your role at USDP?
I am a senior digital analyst. Our team of four spends the majority of our time creating and optimizing ad campaigns to increase website traffic. This includes paid search, display banner ads, paid social media, and YouTube advertising. We are also experts in Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, which is the process of improving a website’s search ranking. If you ever have questions about your website visitors, we’re the ones who can find the answers in your Google Analytics account.
What’s your background?
After graduating from Ohio University, I’ve held a variety of roles including sales, merchandising, and online marketing.
Why did you want to work with USDP?
I wanted the opportunity to work with many different companies and be exposed to different industries, so I could learn more. (My previous job was online marketing for an equipment and supplies distributor.) Working with the design and development team was also appealing. Plus, working downtown was a draw, since it’s closer to home and has lots of restaurant and entertainment options.
What are your interests/activities outside of work?
I like boating, swimming, camping, or playing in the yard with my two boys. I also spend a lot of time working on the house with my wife, which as any homeowner knows, can be both fun and a major chore. I also enjoy watching sports and playing hockey and soccer. I’m a westsider, which means I play a lot of backyard games like cornhole and talk about high school at parties.
What are you known for at work? What’s your MO?
I’m the charts and graphs guy. And I often have an unusual combination of packed lunch items.
Other than the essentials needed for survival (food, clothing, shelter), what could you not go a day without?
Probably my baby blankie. I still sleep with it almost every night. It keeps me warm when I’m cold and cool when I’m hot. That is survival.
What is something you believe that almost nobody agrees with you on?
Panera is just overpriced average food.
