Roto-Rooter and Tom Crapper Make History!

Last Updated on March 27, 2018

Roto-Rooter knows a thing or two about toilets, so a day that celebrates the plumbing icon Thomas Crapper is basically their Christmas. On January 27, the world pays tribute to the man who didn’t create the toilet but everyone thinks did because his last name is, well, Crapper. It’s also National Chocolate Cake Day, which seems oddly appropriate.

Being toilet Christmas, Roto-Rooter asked US Digital Partners to bring Tom Crapper back to life in honor of Thomas Crapper Day. We naturally decided to make this Victorian-era plumbing salesman the host of a short web video series examining some of the lesser known crappy moments in history. We scoured the history books and found a few moments that might have flown under the radar.

So in honor of the man who invented the toilet store, we hope you enjoy “Crappy Moments in History” with your host, Tom Crapper. It’s potty humor, but as the old saying goes, when life gives you potties…

(Among the three videos on the YouTube and Facebook pages for Roto-Rooter, we’re past the 100,000 150,000-views mark and climbing.)
