Culture

Say hello to Austin Farmer, the latest web developer.

Austin Farmer is the latest web developer to join the ranks of the USDP team. His love of all things technical have already come in handy for us and our clients.

What’s your background?
I come from the small town of Barbourville, Kentucky. I started coding in middle school when I found JustBASIC and quickly moved onto languages like C++. I recently graduated (May ’16) from Berea College with a degree in Computer and Information Science from where I worked at the IT department for my four year stay. After I walked off the stage and received my degree, I drove up to Cincinnati and started work with USDP the next day.

What is your primary role at US Digital Partners?
So far, I’ve primarily worked as a .NET developer. I hope that as the need arises I’ll start dabbling around with PHP and see how I can help the team moving forward. I’m incredibly excited that my role here encourages me to work with new things and that there’s always the opportunity for something different.

Why did you want to work at US Digital Partners?
My student labor supervisor (and great friend) knew some of the work that USDP did and, more importantly, knew about the culture. Eventually, as all college students do, I started searching for jobs and he strongly encouraged me to look into US Digital Parnters. After seeing a lot of the “handiwork” I was impressed. It wasn’t until I was on the phone with Kevin that I was strongly interested in working at USDP. He was really interested in getting to know me as a person and knowing whether or not I could work effectively with this dream team. I was sold.

What do you think about your job so far?
So far, I’ve fallen in love with this job. I’ve been given the opportunity to have my hands on a lot of different projects, talk with a lot of different clients, and get to know the team. I know that I’m only scratching the surface of what we do here and I’m excited to dive much deeper.

What do you think about the people you are working with so far?
The people I’m working with here are phenomenal. For starters, they are ridiculously skilled. Additionally, they’re incredibly humble about it, and they’ve welcomed me into the group. Getting to know these people immediately out of college is the best thing I could have done.

Do you have any particular goals for your work at USDP?
I hope to increase my efficiency as a web developer. In addition, I hope that through whatever strides I can make can benefit my fellow employees at the office. As cliche as it sounds, I hope that through my work at USDP I’ll grow to be the best person and developer that I can be.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m a pretty nerdy guy, so I like to tinker around with electronics. Currently I’m planning out the build of a Raspberry Pi car stereo. I’m very much into drinking good coffee, hanging out in cool coffee shops, and making good friends. Swimming is another passion of mine.
