An Intern’s Insight: What It’s Like to Work at USDP

Last Updated on July 16, 2021

As summer draws to a close, I’ll be packing my bags and heading off to college. After having spent the past 13 months interning for US Digital Partners, it will certainly be an adjustment to jump back into the academic world, but I couldn’t be more grateful for my internship experience!

I started my internship at USDP the day after I graduated high school. I felt too young to launch into college right away and I wanted to take a gap year to get valuable work experience under my belt and explore my interest in communications and marketing. Little did I know just how much I would learn and mature through this internship.

First, this internship provided me with plentiful opportunities to expand my skills and learn. Each team member graciously took the time to teach me the ropes and guide me as I learned from the ground up. Working alongside individual team members helped me process new information faster while shadowing meetings allowed me to observe how team members interacted with clients.

As a digital marketing intern, since I wasn’t part of a specific team, I had the flexibility to bounce from project to project and explore all aspects of the company. On a weekly basis, I would assist the designers, developers, sales team, account managers, content strategists, and digital analysts on projects ranging from USDP internal marketing efforts to website redesigns for clients all over the country.

The kind of tasks I worked on included:

USDP Projects

  • Writing new blog posts.
  • Optimizing web pages to increase site traffic and improve organic rankings.
  • Posting on social media.
  • Designing and sending out emails.
  • Assisting with video shoots.

Client Projects

  • Search Engine Optimization: this included keyword research and implementation and writing new page content.
  • Assisting the digital analysts with running search ad campaigns.
  • Writing StoryBrand narratives.
  • Helping to build out pages in WordPress for new websites.
  • Assisting the account managers with website launches and organizational tasks.

The kinds of projects I was assigned varied week to week, which meant I was always working on something different and exciting.

Secondly, USDP’s office environment is high-energy, collaborative, and encouraging. Everyone shares the same determination to persevere through projects and their enthusiasm to do well is contagious. Not only was I motivated by the team around me, I always felt comfortable asking questions when I got stuck on something. Part of USDP’s charm is that everyone is approachable, unpretentious, and willing to solve problems together. This kind of office culture is ripe for learning.

Finally, this internship has given me perspective for life after college that I could never have gained otherwise. I’ve been given a taste of the business world and acquired valuable knowledge that has formed me into a better person. I am confident that what I’ve learned at USDP will help me no matter my career path.

This year has been rewarding in every way. Thank you to the team at US Digital Partners for such a wonderful internship!
