June 2008 June 2008—Cincinnati—So when is peer pressure a good thing? When the pressure is for high school students to donate their time and talents to help others. UGIVE is an organization that is committed to helping students make a difference in their communities. They had an idea for a website that would connect schools, students, and charities to make volunteering not only a valuable experience for students, but also make it easy to do. To achieve these goals, UGIVE enlisted the help of the team at US Digital Partners to create a website that is fun, informative, very easy to use, and inspiring (http://www.ugivecincinnati.org). The challenge with developing this site was that it needed to be custom built in every way. US Digital stepped up to the challenge and created a secure place for charities to list their opportunities, and in turn, a secure place for students to find opportunities. In addition, schools can encourage students to create a profile so that they can then see what kind of projects their peers are getting involved in. Here’s how it works. UGIVE bridges the gap between SCHOOLS requiring community service, CHARITIES desperately in need of volunteers, and the STUDENTS who have the time, energy and passion to do the work. Students can search the UGIVE site and calendar for activities that match their interests and schedules. Parents, teachers and schools will know that the activities are worthwhile because UGIVE will provide its seal of approval. While the project was a big undertaking, they handled it the way they handle all of their projects, with experience, creativity, and determination. And the end result? As always, it’s a website that delivers.
