BHDP Architecture and US Digital Partners Develop Custom Corporate Intranet Using Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007

January 2008 — Cincinnati — When BHDP Architecture asked US Digital Partners to create a corporate intranet website available only to employees, their goal was to foster information sharing among their 150 employees, located in three cities. “We recognized the need to open up our lines of communication and leverage technology in such a way that we can efficiently support one another across these geographical boundaries” states Jay Rottinghaus, the Marketing Director for BHDP. This month, US Digital Partners and BHDP are bringing this vision to life by launching an intranet site that is now the core of BHDP’s intellectual capital.

US Digital Partners understood BHDP’s desire for a corporate-wide collaboration intranet, and knew just how to go about developing one. As a registered Microsoft Partner, US Digital Partners custom developed the intranet website on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

The capabilities of the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 platform are extensive. Across multiple office locations, employees can collaborate with team members on documents, manage project processes, track down architecture related images, quickly find the business information they need, and much more. Employees can create custom websites for specific company efforts and personalize their user experiences. Additionally, employees can quickly and easily find the people, expertise, and content they need using the enterprise search functionality. This new corporate intranet site makes BHDP employees far more efficient and effective in accomplishing their day-to-day work.

Using SharePoint’s basic platform, US Digital Partners custom developed several employee collaboration sites. These sites are focused on business development, employee training and education, image and document libraries, and industry knowledge sharing. Among the types of information that employees can now easily share are sales prospects, proposals, contacts, photos and graphics, calendars, news and announcements, and best practices research. In addition to accessing this great information in office, everything is accessible via mobile PDA or from any Internet connection while employees are working at home or traveling.

According to Jay Rottinghaus, the vision is off to a great start. “As everyone knows, a corporate intranet is only successful if the employees use it. We launched on January 7, 2008 and two weeks later, we are sharing over 1,500 business contacts, have documented $18,000,000 worth of new business opportunities that we are pursuing, uploaded over 37 Gigs of graphics to the image library, and virtually everyone in the office is using the calendars and document libraries.”

BHDP Architecture has capitalized on US Digital Partners’ customized approach to developing corporate intranet websites on the SharePoint platform. They have the expertise to maximize the benefits of SharePoint for their clients. Because the intranet websites they develop are based on Microsoft’s SharePoint platform, their sites are integrated with other key Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, providing employees with a very efficient suite of tools to work with.

According to David Brecount with US Digital Partners, BHDP Architecture’s intranet website will promote better communications across the organization. “As a company with 150 employees across three cities, it was imperative to have a way for employees to share information about sales prospects, proposals, projects, and anything else company related. The intranet site that we have created allows employees to access quickly the information they need, without trying to track down the person who holds the information they are looking for. This system centralizes everything and makes the right information available to the right people. The SharePoint technology has greatly improved over the years and the level with which we can custom develop portals for our clients has increase dramatically.”

Jay Rottinghaus continues, “As their name implies, US Digital Partners has truly been a partner of ours. They bring both technical know-how and business acumen both of which have been vitally important to the success of this project. They have the unique ability to listen to our needs and recommend a solution – a solution that is in our best interest, not theirs.”
